PARENTING SUPPORT & SKILLS PROGRAMMING
The Strengthening Families Program
(SFP) is a 14-week evidence-based family skills training program that is recognized both nationally and internationally. Strengthening Families teaches–and has parents and youth practice–skills involved in bonding (creating warm, loving relationships), setting clear, firm boundaries (rules against antisocial behavior, including drug and alcohol use), and monitoring their children’s emotional well-being and activities. Classes run throughout the year in community settings and are available for families with children ages 0 – 17 years. In home services are also available. There is no cost for the Families to attend. Adolescent Parenting Program (APP)
APP is a home visiting care management program for pregnant and/or parenting teens in Rowan County. Using the framework of the evidence based curriculum, Parents as Teachers, our organization will support adolescent parents in completing their education, improving parenting abilities through deep insight into early childhood development, and delaying additional pregnancies. Good Beginnings for Teen Parents
A school-based program that serves teen mothers and fathers in Rowan county. Good Beginnings promotes positive parenting, child development, and strengthening the connection to community resources.
